Trademarks and trademark law fall under the larger rubric of law known as Intellectual Property Law. Most people that are thinking about getting a trademark already know that a trademark is essentially another word for your brand OR the brand name of a product/service that you wish to offer into the marketplace. Legally speaking, a trademark can be any name, word, phrases, symbol, slogan or device that distinguishes your business, product or service from others in the marketplace. Trademarks help protect you and your business by prohibiting others from using your trademark (brand) in the marketplace. This becomes incredibly important as you link the idea of your brand with your reputation. The greater your reputation, the more valuable your brand has in the marketplace and the more you are going to want to protect it from potential bad actors that may diminish or damage your branding.
I realize all of this can begin to sound confusing and mundane. Basically, if you are in business or thinking about doing anything in the marketplace you should consider a trademark and work to protect your brand/reputation.
For my part, I enjoy helping clients protect their trademark rights probably more than any other area of the law. I honestly believe that businesses should work on getting trademark(s) in place as soon as is practicable. There are many reasons a business needs a trademark. Probably the biggest reason - there is no more cost effective means of communicating your business message than a trademark. Trademarks are relatively inexpensive to get and they are an incredible asset for you that never expire (assuming you pay your renewal fees) and always projects your image/product/service.
To give my firm and my clients the edge, I have created amazing technology tools to help get and maintain trademarks. Once you have your trademark, it is vital that you protect it from potential dilution and infringement. My technology tools can help you accomplish that.
You can check out some of the publicly available technology I created by clicking through to Law Alarm and setting up your own account.

Trademarks are kind of my thing. My background is in software engineering, which I did before I became an attorney. That technical background led me to create tools that no other attorney has... how do I know that, because I haven't given the tools I have created to anyone else. Hiring me to help you, brings a wealth of tools and a unique perspective. I have filed and received patents and trademarks. I don't mean that I have helped clients get trademarks - which is also true - I mean I have been where you are sitting as someone trying to get a trademark. I know what you are going through and how your business decisionmaking is conducted to accomplish something as important as your trademark(s).
Another important quality that I offer my clients that most firms simply do not have - is enviable technical skills that most attorneys will never possess. Combine my technical expertise with my legal background and you can have real unique asset at your fingertips.
