When we talk about Copyright law we are really talking about the legal process of registering the work of art so that your statutory rights of protection for infringement attach.

There are tons of resources on the internet that discuss Copyright law, I am not going to rehash all of that here. As a general recommendation, I think anything you create as an original work of art, including your website should be registered and protected.
